The Awakened of Pittsburgh
Selena Anna Maribelzabath bani Shaea, Order of Hermes - Headmistress of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Covenent Description She herself is a somewhat older woman, looking to be perhaps in her mid-40’s. She wears the years well, and is very striking; she could have been called beautiful when she was younger; now she’s just striking. Her hair, a long dark auburn, is wound into a tight bun. Background Magister Scholae Selena Anna Maribelzabath is an influential voice among the Seshati. She’s been the Headmistress of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Covenant longer then any other Awakened individual had been in Pittsburgh, having assumed leadership in the early 1940’s. She took the leadership of the Chantry in certamen against Master Gunther Kunigunde Holtzer of House Flambeau. The move was an act that was welcomed by the Order, as it left Holtzer, a Nazi sympathizer, powerless and disgraced—a Flambeau defeated in direct certamen by, of all things, a Librarian. Gunther fled to Germany, not to be heard from again, and Selena gracefully took the position. It’s said that when the infamous Master Porthos Fitz-Empress, Primus of the Flambeau (and head of the Order before his death in the Reckoning) heard, he merely smiled and sent Selena a note of congratulations. After that, no one in the House—or the entire Order, for that matter—saw fit to question her ascension to Headmistress. Selena is known among those Hermetics at Alpha Gamma Sigma to be a wise leader. She’s weathered through the Reckoning, the Second Massassa War, and more—though the number of Tytalans who were found to be corrupted and destroyed from AGS left some doubts lingering as to her failure to notice them. She has no difficulty being stern when she needs to—the image of the Headmistress storming through the halls of AGS is enough to send Acolytes, Initiates, and Adepts alike scurrying wisely away. Generally, though, the loyalty of her charges to her is unquestioned, causing some within the Tradition to whisper that given the choice between the good of the Order and the good of the Headmistress, the Order would lose out. Michelle Morgan - Rock Musician/Political Talk Show Host Description Wow, here comes sex in a flowing skirt. The woman walking ahead radiates “hippy free love,” and has the body to prove it. Standing about 5’7” and weighing probably around 120-125 pounds, she is one of those people that everyone secretly despises; she looks good without really trying. Her hair, a light honey blonde, hangs free, curling slightly where it ends at the shoulder. She has bright green eyes, filled with an exuberant, rebellious energy. A white tank top covers her from the waist up, with some political phrase or another silk-screened across it. From the waist down, it's an ankle-length forest-green skirt and sandals. Background Within the sleeper world, Michelle Morgan is a star on the rise. The writer of politically-charged music, her third album, sans ruby slippers, hit #10 on the Billboard Charts in 2002, and the single of the same name reached #8 on the Hot 50. Very vocal about her liberal political beliefs, the openly bisexual artist was born in 1972 in Lancaster, California. Her parents died in a house robbery in 1998, and she was badly wounded. Soon after, she moved to New York and signed with Ravynwing Records. As controversial for her lifestyle as she is for her outspoken liberal beliefs, she was recently a delegate for California at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, and performed a benefit concert raising money for the failed John Kerry presidential campaign. In December of 2004, she signed a deal to host a half-hour radio show on liberal talk radio network Air America, The Anti-Spin. She stayed with the network for three years, until her contract was up. Upon that time, she moved to Pittsburgh, signing a one-year deal with local station WPTR. Her new Anti-Spin focuses less on political issues and more on music, highlighting local talent and giving them an opportunity to find success. Among the Awakened, Michelle is known as one of the higher-ranking members of the Cult of Ecstasy, particularly following in the wake of the Reckoning. She's mentored several new members of the tradition, and is believed by the Tradition to be one of the best hopes for their future. A member of the Ecstatic sub-faction known as Cult of Acceptance, her fame is debated by other Tradition as to whether it's an issue or a boon. Either way, she's looked upon as a leader in these dark, post-Ascension War times, for better or ill. Malcolm Yates - Orphan and Owner of Mal's Place Description Coming Background Coming Trevor Owens, bani Verbena - No Chantry Alignment Description Somewhere in his mid-thirties by appearance, the man is attractive in that good old boy sort of way...kind of like the farmer's son fresh in the city. Sandy blonde hair is cut short…well, maybe a touch long on the back of the neck. He’s a shade under six feet, and probably around 165 pounds or so. He has a strong jawline, on a full face, usually carrying a good-natured smile to it. His grey-blue eyes have an older look to them, like one of wisdom beyond his years. Background A solitary claiming to be from the Midwest United States, Trevor Owens has wandered all over in his time as a Verbena. A proud member of the Moon-Seeker faction, he’s never been one to stay in any one place for long, and even though he calls Pittsburgh home for now, he still makes time to head to other locations for a time…he just always returns to Steel City after each wandering. No one’s ever asked him much about his history, though it’s known that he was already an Awakened individual before the Reckoning hit; what Tradition records remain list a “Trevor Eoghan” that matches Mr. Owens’s description among the defenders of Concordia when it fell to the Technocracy, and the name appears semi-regularly in other record from the United States and Europe. If they are in fact the same person, Trevor is older then he appears or makes himself out to be; no one has yet asked him about it and gotten a definitive answer. He is known to be remarkably patient, and fairly pleasant and easy-going. But then again, no one’s ever really pissed him off. Maia Kokinos, bani Euthanatos - No Chantry Alignment Description Dusky-skin and dark hair reveals the woman’s Greek heritage. She’s attractive enough, though not what one would call stunning. Dressed in a black turtleneck underneath a simple, formal jacket, with a hematite chain around her neck. She speaks with a soft voice, her eyes often wandering as she does. Background Coming Jacob Corin, bani Cult of Ecstacy - No Chantry Alignment Description The man is tall, lanky and pale, looking to be in his early, maybe mid-thirties. Dark hair reaches just to his shoulders, framing a thin face and a nose that's almost but not quite larger then is appropriate for his face. He's attractive enough, though not incredibly so...the most striking thing is his eyes, a deep blue, and they're vibrantly alive. When he looks at someone, the effect is almost intoxicating. He shows his emotions with every part of his face--almost every part of his being. His style of dress is casual, tending toward denim jackets, band T-Shirts, and jeans, with hiking boots finishing the look off. Background Jacob is a young member of the Cult of Ecstasy, but one who’s already found his calling…connections. Originally hailing from the Pacific Northwest, the Joybringer claims to know people from all around the nation, both Awakened and otherwise. As a former member of Paradigm, a Hollow-One chantry based out of Portland, Oregon, Jacob has claim to connections to sister chantries—of which Weaving Steel was once counted as. Known to be pretty laid-back and easy-going, he has a reputation (deserved or not) for name-dropping well-known Awakened individuals, and is being increasingly looked at as an up-and-comer in the Tradition...if he can stop enjoying life enough to take it seriously. Sabrina Christenson, bani Celestial Chorus - No Chantry Alignment; Currently Wanted Description She’s a youngish woman in her late twenties to early thirties, small and demure. She stands somewhere in the low five-feet range, and probably weighs barely 100 pounds soaking wet. Despite her small size, she has a rather commanding presence when she chooses to assert herself. Her hair, a rich brown, is braided down to the small of her back, and her matching eyes had a kind yet discerning look to them. She wears a forest-green silk blouse, a white skirt, and strapped sandals. On her back, a canvas military backpack. Background Sabrina is rather infamous among her Tradition, and not for good reasons. The student and cabalmate of Celestial Chorus barabbi Jayson Ashe first came into prominence when Ashe awakened her in San Jose in late 1995. Nothing was known of her past before then, although it is now believed that she was "The Man-Eater," a serial killer who caused the deaths of 10 men between 1992 and 1995. With this information unknown at the time, Sabrina and Jayson counselled and provided therapy for battered and abused women. However, in 2001, two years after the Reckoning, Ashe went to the Cauls, and Sabrina was put on trial. She was acquitted of any involvement with Ashe but for refusing to provide certain information, she was Ostracized for a period of five years. Her known whereabouts during that time are few; she was known to have spent some time at the Paradigm Chantry in Portland, Oregon in 2004. She finally appeared in Pittsburgh in 2006. Not long after, a series of ritual murders began to take place...ones that have drawn the attention of the Chorus, who now, some whisper, believe that Sabrina's trial merely failed to uncover evidence of her corruption and are coming to destroy a barabbi within their ranks. Sabrina has rarely been seen since that time, though it is believed she is still within the city somewhere. | |||||||||
